Palo Alto, CA — This past Wednesday, May 14th, the team behind the innovative 414 California Avenue project hosted an open house, inviting the Bay Area peninsula community for an evening of discussion around the proposed mixed-use development at the site of the former Bank of the West.

Principals from SPF:architects unveiled their unique architectural design, featuring a sun-kissed facade with sustainability-forward shutters, inspired by the basketwork of the Muwekma Ohlone people. The design seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor, and public and private spaces, as the development vision includes underground parking, high-end restaurants, artisanal food shops, an upstairs bar and private event space, multi-sized condo units, and creative landscaping that offers a rooftop garden and street level greenspaces.

414 leadership emphasized their commitment to creating impactful and sustainable opportunities for community engagement and economic growth, both for the 414 project and the wider California Avenue district beginning even in these early stages of the project. They reminded guests of the free music series on Wednesday and Saturday evenings sponsored by 414 that encourages attendees to enjoy takeout from Cal Ave restaurants while listening to live music outdoors by local artists.

Designed by Bridget Algee, the chief marketing officer for 414 development, the open house provided residents, business owners, and stakeholders the first opportunity to view the latest design plans, ask 1:1 questions, and offer feedback on how the development can best serve the needs of the community at large.

"California Avenue is quickly becoming the heartbeat of Palo Alto, as the home to award-winning restaurants and shops that thrive in a lively, community-focused atmosphere," said Algee. "We see 414 as a powerful force in shaping the future of California Avenue. Our goal is to leverage this development to further energize the avenue, help to address the housing gap, and create an exceptional living experience within a dynamic, ever-changing district. The future of Cal Ave is incredibly bright—there's monumental potential for growth, and we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on the iconic Mayfield area that is again poised for exciting developments."
